Real or fake?

I just stumbled onto this and it is freaking amazing. Ron Mueck, and he is beyond cool art work. Is it real? Fake? WTF? A london based photo realist artist how can you not ask yourself if this is crazy!?

Just for fun

This is a video of Zack, whose parents decided to take him for a walk along the Christmas trail of WTF, where there's an animatronic t-rex waving a holiday wreath around in its puny arms. Little Zack stops for a minute to take it all in, then decides 'NO THANK YOU' and takes off in the opposite direction. Me? I would have jumped on the back of that thing and ridden it straight through my school, stopping only in the cafeteria for a heaping serving of corn dogs and chocolate milk. "Sounds like you've really given this some thought." Please, I have given this ALL my thoughts.
Hit the jump for the I would have at least tried to get it to fetch a stick.

By the power of Greyskull..... oh wait

So I went to see the Avengers over the weekend and it literally kicks the most ass ever! It kicked that Potter's boy in the lil fanny knocking out his record in the $$ dept. So Protego-Expelliarmus that Potter! Anywho, everyone is in a craze with the Avengers and rightfully so, A user on Flicker has made these kick ass lego weapons and are just amazing! I want to look at them more so heres the link and some pics. enjoy.

It's finals week and well the Blog has been a tad neglected so lets start it off with some good ol pancakes!! I'll have the Hermit Crab and Jellyfish please. For those who said food isnt art better take a bite out of themselves. Meet Nathan Shields, this dude is dope! He makes almost anything out of Pancake batter, well almost anything. From Star Wars to animals even body parts!! He's just a simple stay at home dad (with a little too much extra time on his hands) Actually a former math teacher, he says eventually he wants to do portraits, he even has his own website for crying out loud! Hit the links after the jump for more pics, vids and drooling action.

Pretty Bad Ass

Ok, so if you don't know what Cosplay is, basically in a nutshell its when a person or persons love a movie/cartoon/character/etc to death that they dress up like them and attend big conventions that involve comics, anime, collectibles and all that cool stuff and just nerd out. Do I consider myself a geek in that I like those things..... Yes. Do i participate in dressing myself and pretending to be Solid Snake or Han Solo?   NO! But this guy right here takes the cake and has way too much time on his hands. Anthony Le made this bad ass iron man costume with moving parts, lights, and god knows what else. Would you consider this art? or course. Why not? If it's something you take pride in and take the time to build it then hell yes its art! hit the link for the movie.

Why I dont have cats

Because the internet is drier than dry cat food, here's a video of Milo the cat beating the shit out of his automatic cat feeder to get it to drop some extra fish-shaped kibble. Mmmm, the fish shapes are my favorite too.

See? And you all thought I was crazy for pounding on my computer every time the internet goes out. "But Milo actually gets something for his effort -- banging on your computer doesn't do anything." Yes it does too! "What?" Makes me feel good.
Hit the jump for the clever cat in action, bonus slap-fight midway through.

I thought this was hella funny, so I just had to put it up

Anybody has to go?

This is a penthouse bathroom from a condo in Guadalajara, Mexico that was built over an old 15-story elevator shaft. That...is terrifying. Could you imagine even using that toilet? I'd have to tie a towel around myself and then anchor it to the towel bar. And what happens if you just need to go the bathroom and somebody at the bottom looks up and sees your peenor? Because it's gonna look miiiiiiiiiighty tiny from 15-stories down. They might even start rumors around the building about you. Psst -- you know the guy who lives up in the big penthouse? I heard he's trying to make up for something. So, yeah, besides drowning I can't think of anything scarier than the thought of plummeting 15 stories. Yes, yes I can -- plummeting 15 stories with your fucking pants around your ankles.

I think I just threw up a lil

Do you like Mc Donalds? Well if you do and want to continue that love for Ronald Mc Donald then stop reading NOW!!! If you hate that fucking clown or just kept reading then prepare to be amazed and disgusted. Meet Ben Campbell aka Beneverywhere, had too much time on his hands and created a life-size mummy from $200 worth of McDonald's food. The guy is literally crazy, hes promoting this thing on his Facebook page wondering when he will be sued by the food giant because of that fact that their food wont decay. However his connection between McDonalds and ancient Egypt is pretty solid, but still crazy! Hit the jump for pics and the video that explains everything, watch it, its pretty good.

First heels now a guitar

Remember those Alien HR Giger inspired heels? well heres another one for you. an HR Giger guitar, and well.... it looks pretty cool, but still not as cool as them heels (at least in my opinion.  I like it because it has all the elements on it. You have your Alien, Face Hugger and the cool looking scales to give it that Giger look. Too bad its a one of a kind, then again this guy can stand to make a couple thousand to the right person.

DJ MC Escher

This is a pretty cool video of an arm attached to two record players and they are drawing. What are they drawing? 'DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE' over and over again, just kidding! it looks like a worm hold or something, who knows. Its a pretty cool concept, hacking some old turntables and just seeing what the end result is. I wonder if I would have the same effect if i were to take some string and attach it to the turntable inside the microwave..... Hmm....?

HG Giger Alien heels!!!?

In case you didnt know who HG Giger is, he is an amazing artist that deals with fantasy, scifi and is the innovator of the 'Alien' character that made the 'Alien' movie franchise very successful. Well it seems that a famous fashion designer, Alexander McQueen was so motivated that he actually made some high heels for the ladies that are in retrospect HG Giger-esque and I have to say that I think he pulled it off. However at the same time they are kinda ugly but they are just so cool! I am a very very big Giger and Alien fan and I am still contemplating weather I would buy a pair just to have in my collection. Check them out, tell me what you think.

While we are on the subject of shoes and media/gaming, take a look at these other cool video game inspired heels/shoes for the ladies. This easily can go on and on forever because it not only stops for women but men also have cool inspired Nike/Converse shoes, however were just gonna highlight these at the moment till I find some cool guys shoes.

OMG WTF!

Just when you thought you saw it all, theres this.....
What you are seeing is a real Jaguar thats been gutted of its heavier parts and hung on a wall to serve as a bookshelf. Why? No F'ing clue, I guess thats what rich people do. Not to brag or anything but I do have a bathtub made of an old NASA Space capsule. This is just as bad as the guy who converted his Porsche 911 into a home entertainment center. Hit the jump for pics and video of both.

In the "That's F'ing cool department!!"

The day has come where you can finally get cupcakes via an ATM machine. It seems that this is the only (not sure if there are more in the area) Cupcake ATM machine in Los Angeles. It's pretty straight forward, choose your cupcake, pay and its given to you right there on the spot. I still think there is someone behind that wall but it's assured to everyone that its all automated via robots (Judgement day is coming) plus theres a camera that shows you all of the action going on in the background. Pretty cool if you ask me. Now if we can just get the  ATM that dispenses a shot of Vodka and cranberry juice we'd be in business.

What a great way to start the new month than with a new artist that I have just discovered, Max Zorn. Who is Max Zorn? I don't know, like I said I just discovered him this very second and he is already my new favorite street artist/contemporary artist as of this moment. Max Zorn is by far the most clever and gifted artist that I have seen among many (all artists are great, dont get me wrong) but to me this guy takes the cake!! Armed with only packing tape and a scalpel he creates amazing works of art on public lights and fixtures dubbed 'Tape art' he has created famous celebrities, movie scenes, or whatever comes to his mind. All of his information can be found on his website along with his Facebook page. Its a shame that he lives in Germany but has been to the states at least once according to his map on his page where he has tagged all the places that he has left his mark on. I hope that he comes back real soon.

Yi Hong

So today I found a very interesting and creative artist by the name of Yi Hong. She is that one remarkable artist that comes to us with a remarkable trait, skill, uniqueness of painting. Her paintbrush... she has no paintbrush she uses a basketball and paints Yao Ming portraits on a big canvass. Yi is a Chinese artist based in Shanghai, but has lived in Borneo in Indonesia, and in Australia before settling where she lives now.
Something that I really like about her is that she only uses a print of Yao Ming to study it and then goes of memory to reproduce the image with the paint and the basketball. This is much like the same way Jim Lee did his work when he use to do comic books and did work for Marvel comics and Image Studios, which in turn Jim would use inspiration and go by works of Michelangelo and Sargent for his comic book figures. Check out both Yi Hong and Jim Lee if you get a chance, Hit the links after the jump to discover this great artist, shes not only limited to a basketball and paint but also uses the bottom of a coffee cup to create amazing pieces of art with the overspill of the liquid. You just have to see to believe.

Toady's post I am highlighting Tristan Reidford, an artist from Seattle, his works have caught my attention since day one and just recently has made some rumblings in the modern art world again. In November of last year he came out with a Star Wars themed collection spanning from paintings to computer generated media that caught my eye, and I say that because I am not the biggest Star Wars fan but I can appreciate his twist and style that he put on this series. My favorite would have to be the Fett Man, Nice! You can follow Tristan on his blog and check out some of his work.

Under construction

Call me a little late but better late than never. What I want to do with this blog is keep everyone informed of the art world of today that deals with Media, video gaming, Comic, etc. and where the people that create this media get their ideas from, inspiration and what they use to as a reference point. This blog will try compare and contrast current works of art and size them up with works of art from the past from the masters to see if there is any relation/similarities. As the blog grows, I think you will get a better understanding as to what I want to achieve.
